MAUSD Early Education Team
Our classroom teachers are licensed as Early Childhood Educators. Other members of our instructional team include early childhood special educators, speech/language pathologists, physical and occupational therapists, and behavior support as needed. We strive to keep the adult-to-child ratio low so that children get the attention they need to progress in their development.
Acorns/Seedlings Classroom
(Part-time Program)

Lindsay Hance - Lead Teacher
Hi families! I am Lindsay Hance, the lead teacher in the Acorns/Seedlings classroom. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2012 with a degree in Elementary Education. While in North Carolina, I taught kindergarten, first, and second grade for seven years before moving to Vermont and starting with the MAUSD Early Education Program in 2022.
In my free time, I enjoy gardening, hiking, camping, going on walks, and learning new crafts! I currently live in New Haven with my husband PJ, daughter Fern, dog Glacier, cats Nova and Galaxy, and our rabbit Louisa. I also have ten chickens running around the large field by our house. In the future we intend to use our land as a sustainable farmstead. I am excited to continue to learn, play, and grow with your kids this year!
Carley Sherwin - Educational Assistant
Hello, I'm Carley Sherwin, the full-time educational assistant in the Acorns/Seedlings classroom! This is my third year working at the early education program at MAUSD and I've had the privielge of working in both the part-time and full-time programs in that time. Prior to working in early education, I also worked at the ELP afterschool program for several years and spent the last six summers at ELP summer camp! I graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2022 where I majored in Performance & Communication Arts and minored in Gender & Sexuality Studies and Education.
When I'm not playing and making messes in preschool, I coach youth field hockey for local elementary schoolers and stage manage the musical productions at the high school! In my free time, I enjoy playing field hockey, sewing, reading, and traveling! I'm so excited to continue to play, adventure, make art, and all out have a blast with your kids this year!

Hello beautiful people! My name is Kai Correll, the part-time educational assistant in the Acorns/Seedlings classroom! I have been with the early education program for the past year and I have worked in several roles over the last five years at the ELP afterschool program and summer camps before stepping into my current role as the ELP Site Coordinator at Monkton Central School! I am so pleased to be able to return to the school and school-community that I had the pleasure of growing up in.
In my free time, I work on the musicals at Mt. Abraham high school where I sew costumes and make props. I live in Bristol with my cat Princess and we enjoy watching Grey's Anatomy while sewing and crafting. Thank you for allowing me to love and have so much fun with your tiny humans1
Saplings Classroom
(Full-time Program)
Heidi Bullock - Lead Teacher
Hi families! I'm Heidi Bullock, the lead teacher in the Saplings classroom. This is my fifth year with the MAUSD and fourth year working with Danielle at BES. I arrived in Vermont after living in Texas, although I am originally from the beautiful state of Utah. After being the primary care provider for my four children, I went back to school and obtained my Bachelor's of Science degree in 2017. Since starting with the district, I have also undergone the peer review process to licensure and this past summer obtained my Vermont State Teaching License.
In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, and spending time with my children. I look forward to the adventures we are going to having in the Saplings classroom this year and watching the children reach new developmental milestones! I feel very blessed with our team and there is a deep well of knowledge between us all that we can access to support all of the children and their families!
Danielle Fraser - Educational Assistant
Hi! I'm Danielle Fraser, the full-time educational assistant in the Saplings classroom. This is my fourth year at the early education program alongside Heidi. A veteran in the childcare field, I have held many roles in various centers around the county, but you may know me best from my 7 years at Bristol Family Center. In addition to several hundred hours of field trainings, I am currently enrolled in Early Childhood Education courses through CCV and recently obtained my HQT status this past summer!
If I ever have extra time, I enjoy camping with my family, skiing, reading, and having personal time. I currently reside in Bristol with my husband Zack, fifth grade daughter Hayleigh, and second grade son Connor and our dog Beckett. I am excited for an amazing school year filled with fun and meaningful experiences for each child and family that walks through our doors and I look forward to witnessing the growth that each Sapling with experience with their peers!
Matt Bouvier - Educational Assistant
Hey there! I'm Matthew, "Matt-Matt," Bouvier, and I am ecstatic to be joining Danielle and Heidi as their part-time EA in the Saplings classroom this year! I arrive to BES as a returning face, but switching roles from the ELP program into Early Education.
While I had not originally planned on working in the field, I took a job at the Farmhouse Preschool in 2006 after obtaining my Associate's Degree in General Studies from Paul Smith's College and quickly fell in love. During my time in school I was also fortunate enough to attend the Semester at Sea program, where I was able to visit 10 countries while I travelled around the world earning college credits. I worked for 11 years at Mary Johnson Children's Center in Middlebury, where I was able to hone my skills and build a portfolio with over 500 hours of field training, and as an individual childcare provider, eventually coming back home to Bristol Elementary in 2021.
In my spare time I enjoy: singing, musical theater, movies/television, games, spending time with my family and friends, rooting for the Boston Red Sox, or playing with my best pal, my white Labrador retriever, Stratus.
As a firm believer in the concept of lifelong learning I cannot wait to share in the vast experiences our school year will have to offer and look forward to witnessing the many developmental milestones the Saplings will achieve!
